Powder King Mountain Resort

Powder King Mountain Resort is a ski resort in the Pine Pass, which traverses the Hart Ranges of the Northern Rockies in northern British Columbia, Canada along Highway 97. It lies just outside Pine Le Moray Provincial Park. It is commonly referred to as Powder King.
Powder King Mountain Resort opened in 1984 under the name Powder King Ski Village. It was originally visioned as a "Whistler of the North" and included an elaborate lift and run network supported by a large village with hotels, restaurants, bars and chalets and a full service ski-school. The vast majority of these plans never came to fruition.
At present the resort consists of a triple chair, a T-bar and a handle tow. The present day lodge was constructed in 1993 and replaced several temporary ATCO trailers that had acted as the resort's day lodge, ski shop, cafeteria and bar since 1984. The original 60 bed ATCO hotel remains in operation.
The Powder King Express bus offers round trip service between Pine Center Mall and The Hart Mall in Prince George to the resort and back each day the mountain is in operation, which is usually Thursday to Sunday each week from November until April.
Most of the runs are named after Beatles titles.
The resort lies within the Pacific Time Zone and observes daylight savings. This means in the winter the time zone is UTC-8 and in the summer it is UTC-7. For practical purposes, if traveling to the resort from the west you do not have to change your clock throughout the year. If traveling to the resort from the east in winter (Chetwynd), you must turn your clock back an hour; in summer there is no time change.
